Shakespeare FreeSkool Class
Instructor: Jesse Lepp
Day/Time: TBA
Location: InfoShop, 10 Summer Street (right behind Pizza Pizza on St. Paul Street)
This course is for anyone who has to explain Shakespeare, to themselves or to teach others.
Focusing on the available texts and commentaries, this course will examine the current
prejudices of the high school (and in some cases the University) classroom with a close
reading of Macbeth as our guide. Participants will build a bibliography of important Shakespeare
criticism and enact a different measure of English literature than what is commonly required.
A radical reinterpretation of the play will test our ability to read Shakespeare in the present age.
