People from all walks of life are invited to participate in the research, education, and action facilitated through OPIRG Brock – including not only students but interested community members. Volunteer Opportunities!
Food Not Bombs Volunteers Needed for Saturday afternoons and Sundays
Food Not Bombs - Niagara is starting up again after our winter hibernation! Food servings will be happening every Sunday in Montebello Park. If you would like to help, please contact us about the following. (Or you could just show up; but letting us know is always helpful.):
Food pick-up: Saturdays at 2pm at the market (2 volunteers needed/week)
Cooking: Sundays at 12-2:30 at 10 Bellevue (3 + volunteers needed/week)
Serving: Sundays at 2:45-5pm at Montebello (3 + volunteers needed/week)
Clean-up: Sundays 5:30-6pm at 10 Bellevue (2 volunteers needed/week)
Outreach: help w/ posters (there are some currently at the OPIRG InfoShop at 10 Summer Street), flyers, zines, information, help w/ media (notices in BrockPress, perhaps classifieds?, rants in the view, help with the webpage, email, or fb site, etc.)
Inventory: We are always in need of basic food items to help spruce up donations. Contact us to help.

Tea Fundraising – a call out from one of our volunteers!
Hello fellow volunteers and community members! I need your help in funding OPIRG-Brock’s InfoShop. I propose the formation of a working group to sell fair-trade tea in the community. If anyone is interested in selling tea for the benefit of the InfoShop, feel free to drop a line at opirgbu@gmail.com, and we can arrange a collective meeting.
OPIRG-Brock Visioning – What do you want to see?
What would you like to see in OPIRG? How can we best use the InfoShop? If you have any ideas on how OPIRG can reach out to the community and make a difference in yours and others’ lives, please contact us at opirgbu@gmail.com. We will be holding a meeting to open up a dialogue with board members, volunteers, and community members on what action steps need to be taken to get where we want to go.

Free! Documentary Screening: Third World Canada

Third World Canada examines the impacts of third world living conditions on native children in Canada. We will be having a guest facilitator for this screening who will lead us in a native sharing circle for our discussion session.
To help raise funds for the OPIRG InfoShop, we have gourmet vegan pizza and donuts available for sale each Tuesday! Local Summer Street shops Bella Noella's and Rise Above Bakery will be supplying the food for us, and all proceeds will go towards keeping the InfoShop running.

Nominations for Brock Radio Board of Directors
The Brock Radio (CFBU 103.7 FM) board is accepting nominations for the upcoming annual term (starting in late June or early July).
If you or someone you know supports the goals of the Brock radio station and is open to working with an organization based on collective principals, we welcome your application to our board.
Composition of board includes:
* 2 community members
* 2 student auxiliary (voting) members,
* 1 student at large,
* 1 faculty. The faculty candidate must be a resident of the Niagara Region but need not be a full-time instructor.
Roles and responsibilities:
* Board meetings are monthly and are followed by a meeting with our members. Board members should plan on coming to both - 5:30 -7pm for the board meeting. And 7-8pm for the members meeting.
* Beyond the monthly meeting board members usually serve on one committee (1 hour per month approximately).
* In terms of their role board members would help ensure that there is adequate staffing in place to operate the station, oversee financial accountability and help develop policy, when necessary.
